The philosophy behind the wine list at Café Boulud is to offer our neighborhood and international clientele a broad selection of styles, regions and price ranges, while concentrating on wines that are very versatile. Our wines by the bottle range from a clean and bright Vin de Savoie in the French Alps, an excellent value at $39 a bottle, to the legendary Romanée-Conti 2009 for $12,000.

We offer about 35 wines by the glass ranging from $10 for a juicy Dolcetto d’Alba to $80 for a glass of Grand Cru Burgundy Charmes-Chambertin 2009 by Domaine Camus. We use the Coravin system for the higher end wines served by the glass to ensure consistent freshness.

The wine list at Café Boulud is built around the classic yet inventive menu designed by Chef Daniel Boulud and Executive Chef Aaron Bludorn. Traditional dishes such as the timeless striped bass and sauce Meurette is often paired with a classic, ethereal Vosne-Romanée from producer Georges Mugneret in Burgundy. “Le Voyage” section of the menu is also really fun to play with! The Amazing flavors of the Whole Loup de Mer, prepared with a Vietnamese influence using Tamarind and Turmeric is a great companion for Italian Orange wine or even a briny red from Croatia. A set of vegetarian dishes opens the door to another focus of the wine selection: Organic, biodynamic and even natural wine making cuvées. The now famous Nine Herb Ravioli, sublime with Apricots and Preserved lemon partner with the floral white wine from the Rhône such as the sought after Saint-Joseph from Domaine Gonon.

While the focus on French and American wines reflects the main influences of the Café, the eight hundred selection list spans the globe with representation from all major wine growing regions. One of the challenges, and certainly one of the most enjoyable aspects of the wine list at Café Boulud, is finding wines to match the dynamic and ever changing menu.

Our diverse cellar extends into dessert wines including Ports, Sherries and late harvest wines from around the globe. And again, the range is wide, from the unique Château d’Yquem offered in eight different vintages to more obscure Tintilla de Rota in Southern Spain. We boast a full selection of digestlfs including vintage Calvados, Armagnac and super-premium Cognac.
